Our Rocking Horses are very sturdily built. They are capable of holding up to 300 lbs. safely. If really abused, we would recommend only up to 150 lbs., which means we want to limit that kind of use to young children. We have found our Rocking Horses are also purchased for adult interior decorating purposes, at which time they sometimes get utilized by adults in a fun way, but maybe get abused in the wrong way. Our Rocking Horse is balanced so that when a young child is positioned on the horse, he or she is slid forward to hold onto the handle, to secure himself or herself well. Sitting back too far, creates potential falling off too easily. We also do not put a foot rest for a very young child to position their feet on. At a very young age, a child's leg muscles are very strong, and would give them the ability to force rock the horse and maybe throw themselves off. As the child grows, their feet will eventually reach down to the rocker, at which point they then will have control to move the rocker across the floor. (especially carpet - this is really "cool" if you ask me, I wish I had this type when I was a kid - over 56 years ago.) Also, there are no stringy fibrous materials to allow a young child to choke on, as well as no padded seats to get sliced up or tore. All of our Jig-Saw Puzzles are created without a frame to insert the pieces into, as most others are. We want the child to match and compare body parts that go together or structural shapes to each other, in order to reassemble each design. Not put a piece into a frame that matches the frame, having no consideration for the relationship of the components that make up the design. Our wooden banks are durable with a cork attached to a tail or some component of the character to remove the saved deposits. They are attractive to display not only in a child's room but elsewhere.
